Youth Pre World Health Assembly 2021

18-22 May 2021

5 June 2021

About this edition

The Youth PreWHA in 2021 is the very first Youth PreWHA that has been organized in the virtual setting from the beginning. The virtual setting has its challenges, but definitely also opened up opportunities. This was the first time that the Organizing Committee hosted the ‘Road to the Youth PreWHA’, which included three workshops during March and April focusing on essential topics including Science and Research, Innovation and BIoethics, and Decolonizing Global Health. During the Youth PreWHA, we welcomed a very large number of high-level speakers including the Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr. Tedros, Prof. Ilona Kickbusch, The United Nations Youth Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake, the Executive Director of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Helga Fogstad, and many more. Please stay tuned for the full report of the Youth PreWHA to read all about it!

The WHA is a large meeting touching upon a broad set of global health issues. That is why the IFMSA makes sure to work with a large delegation addressing all relevant global health topics with the Federation’s stances. This year, the IFMSA Delegation to the WHA focused on 9 sets of advocacy areas. These advocacy areas are Health Workforce, Antimicrobial Resistance and Vaccine Equity, Universal Health Coverage, Health Emergencies, Mental Health, Public Health & Innovation, Climate Change and Health & Noncommunicable diseases, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Human Rights & Social Determinants of Health.
