Problem statement:
Vulnerable people in developing countries suffered most from extreme weather events like storms, floods, etc. The impact of climate change is visible around the globe but poorer countries are hit hardest. With most climate campaigns focused on slowing climate change and securing the planet’s future, World Humanitarian Day 2021, will highlight the immediate consequences of the climate emergency for the world’s most vulnerable people and ensure that their voices are heard.

Objectives:
– To sensitise minimum 200 medical students about World Humanitarian Day with help of relevant statistics and infographics through a 2 day online campaign
– To sensitise minimum 200 medical students about UN’s theme for World Humanitarian Day 2021 with help of relevant statistics and infographics through a 2 day online campaign
– To create opportunities for minimum 20 medical students to express their thoughts about the persistence of humanity amidst the pandemic through an online competition in a 2 day online campaign

General Indicators:
Number of entries for online competition: Minimum 30
Specific Indicators:
– At least 60% of medical students become aware of World Humanitarian Day
– At least 60% of medical students become aware of UN Theme for World Humanitarian Day 2021
– At least 20 medical students should be able to express their thoughts on persistence of humanity amidst the pandemic
Methodology:
- Online infographics and posts shared on social media platforms focusing on UN Theme on World Humanitarian Day 2021- Climate emergency for the world’s most vulnerable people
- Online Competitions on the topic Reflection of Humanity amidst Pandemic consisting of –
Creative Writing, Photography and Poster Making to be judged on the basis of originality, creativity and communication of theme
Plans for evaluation:
Calculate social media outreach of the infographics from MSAI’s Instagram page
Use the Likert scale to assess the quality of the articles and designs (Very Poor, Poor, Fair, Good Excellent ) based on the content, communication of theme and originality.
Competitions will be evaluated by the National Officers using point based system and using that 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions will be decided
External collaborations:
Event Organisers were encouraged to collaborate with external speakers such as doctors or interns who had either witnessed or experienced an incident of violence and could provide personal and expert insights to the target audience regarding the issue.
