Problem statement:
AMR is responsible for at least 700, 000 deaths annually and may lead to 10 million deaths per year by 2050. AMR is exacerbated by overuse and misuse of antimicrobials in medicine, veterinary practice and agriculture, lack of effective antibiotics, poor infection and control measures, poor manufacturing practices and improper antimicrobial disposal. A research in Malaysia shows that 56.6% had engaged in at least one inappropriate practice and mean total knowledge score was 8.57± 4.24 (total 20).

Objectives:
- To raise awareness on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to 100 audience from 16th to 22nd November 2021. Infographics to raise awareness on AMR are:
- general idea on AMR
- situation of AMR in Malaysia and globally
- causes of AMR
- impact of AMR in general and on SDGs
- how to tackle AMR
- To educate on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to 100 audience from 16th to 22nd November 2021. Topics to educate audience on AMR are:
- general idea on AMR
- situation of AMR in Malaysia and globally
- causes of AMR
- impact of AMR in general and on SDGs
- how to tackle AMR
- To increase participant engagement in AMR topics to 100 audience on the topics discussed on the day of IG Live Talk on AMR held on 20th November 2021 which are:
- Accessibility of antibiotic over-the-counter
- Self-medication
- Inappropriate usage and incomplete antibiotic regime
- One Health approach to AMR
Indicators of Success:
- Indicator of success for social media advocacy is to obtain:
- Instagram posts (Accounts Reached: 100, Content Interactions: 50) from SCOPH Account.
- Instagram stories (50 viewers each) from SCOPH Account.
- SCOPH Facebook posts (Account Reached: 50, Engagement: 10)
- Indicator of success in identifying the knowledge in AMR is to achieve at least 80% of correct responses from quiz participants on IG Stories for a total of 10 questions on SCOPH IG Account.
- Indicator of success for IG Live session is to achieve 100 views on the live session and IGTV posted after the event on both SCOPH IG page and SCOPH Facebook page.
Methodology:
Social media campaign on the platform, Instagram and Facebook. The social media advocacy to start on the 16th November 2021 and ends on 22nd November 2021. Infographics on AMR are posted on both social media accounts. One (1) post per day, in a total of 4 posts for 4 days. Posters on Instagram Live are posted two (2) day before on IG story and two (2) IG posts per day, in a total of 2 posters are posted one day before the live session to promote the session. Instagram Live discussion with SCOPH CIMSA Indonesia & SCOPH Malaysia representatives are held on 20th November 2021 and will be uploaded on SCOPH Facebook page. The Instagram Story are used to deliver key messages on AMR such as bust the myths on AMR. Quizzes will be posted on Instagram Story to evaluate audience on AMR knowledge. Five (5) questions of 1 quiz per day, in total of 10 questions for 2 days. Finally, hashtags such as #AntimicrobialResistance, #HandlewithCare, #AMR, #WAAW are used in effort to reach more people.
Plans for evaluation:
Outcomes of the activity will be based on achieving the indicator of success. In order to compare situation before and after the activity, a total10 questions are created for evaluation. Five (5) before and another five (5) after the event. A detailed report on the result of evaluation will be sent to the Program Coordinator.
External collaborations:
Collaboration with SCOPH CIMSA-Indonesia. In order to support the event, they assigned one Public Health Leader to represent CIMSA-Indonesia on the IG Live Talk on AMR with SCOPH Malaysia representative.
