Type of the activity: Education. Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).
General description:
World AIDS Da is a project aiming to raise awareness regarding STIs and HIV/AIDS, as well as about sefe sex practicies and eradicaton of stigma for PLWHIV among medical students, non-medical students and the general public.
The project took place in all of 7 local committees of HelMSIC and it consists of 4 parts:
Trainers Preparation:Our peer education trainers are being prepared by experts in the field of HIV/AIDS. These experts come from the NGO “Center of Life” and are specialized in the support of HIV positive people.
Seminar:The 2nd stage consists of an open seminar with speeches by professionals in the field of HIV/AIDS and a peer education training session for medical students.
Workshop: Peer education trainings are conducted to non-medical students to promote safe sex practicies.
Street Action:After the workshop, the participants inform the general public about HIV/AIDS during a street action organised in the city centre.

Problem statement:
In Greece, there are 16.5 thousand HIV positive people.Stigma and misconceptions are spread in all societies and can be seen in various settings, such as in healthcare, education or in everyday activities. Medical students are not educated in a comprehensive way about promoting HIV prevention, treating HIV positive people in a dignified way and raising awareness among the general public.

Objectives and indicators of success:
The main objectives are:
· To educate medical students about the means of transmission of HIV, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the infection
· To sensitise medical students and the general public about the stigma related to the infection and the discrimination against HIV positive people
· To educate medical students on the necessary communication and presentation skills to properly inform the public in street actions
· To eradicate misconceptions among medical students and the general public about HIV and AIDS
· To promote safer sex practices among students and the general public
The success indicators are:

participation in the activity (195)

The number of clicks and reactions to our social media posts

The number of people informed during the street actons

Methodology:
The activity consists of 4 distinct stages.

Plans for evaluation:
The activity was evaluated by means of standardised google forms targeted at 4 distinct groups. Each form was filled by the external partners, the participants, the peer education trainers and the Local Officers who organised the activity on a local level. The results of the evaluation are mentioned above.

In addition to that, this year we conducted pre and post questioneers to measure the impact the activity had to the medical students that participated.
