WORLD AIDS DAY in TUNISIA !!
Last Saturday, 1st December, SCORA TUNISIA celebrated WORLD AIDS DAY
With the red ribbon which is a symbol of solidarity and support towards the people living with HIV, we started our day pretty much at 10 an and lasted till 5 pm.
our stalls were setting up in a commercial center “carrefour” in tunis , near the old city in sfax, in sousse and Monastir.
the event was celebrated in the four cities each one with its charm but almost the same act:
Divided into 2 groups: the first , a team waiting for people to come and see what we had prepared like quizzes about AIDS/HIV , the second ,an outstanding cooperative team intended to spread in the street , high schools , nearby commercial centers ,cafés and playrooms and provide people with information!!
One of our objectives for World AIDS Day is to create awareness on what is AIDS? what is HIV? How it can be transmitted ? well, in many ways: such as sexual transmission without a condom, use of contaminated syringe or drug equipment, blood transfusion from an infected person and from mother to child during giving birth or breast feeding.
Our goal is to enlighten people specially about the signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS: asking questions and clarifying the true responses and correcting the wrong ones, for couples and youngsters mostly showing the right way to use a condom and get rid of it safely and guiding them to HIV detection centers and insisting about the fact that the procedure is totally free and anonymous.
“FIGHT AIDS , NOT THOSE LIVING WITH IT” was our Slogan to eliminate STIGMA and DISCRIMINATION.
Celebration of World AIDS Day is symbolically a call to enhance social protection;
Till date no breakthrough has been achieved in finding any medication to cure HIV/AIDS. But with the support of World AIDS Day the fight against this deadly disease is still on, supporting the people to live a normal life.
