Problem statement:

Accessing HIV screening and treatment is imperative in reaching the Fast Track 2030 target. Various structural barriers indicated in this ecosystem, such as accessing screening tools (89%), access to antiretroviral treatment (56%) and adherence to antiretroviral treatment to be virally suppressed (85%). The main barrier in accessing screening tools is caused by discrimination and fear of the social stigma that was contributed by 20% to 50% of the community. (Ahmed et al, 2017)

Objectives:

– To raise awareness for HIV and AIDS in the public to the participants from 28th November 2021 to 4th December 2021.

 – To educate at least 80% of the participants on preventive measures for HIV and AIDS from 28th November 2021 to 3rd December 2021.

 – To eradicate the stigma of HIV and AIDS towards PLHIV and its impact, to at least 80% of the participants by the 4th of December 2021. 

 – To train and assess the participants in engaging with sensitive scenarios in the public on the 4th of December 2021. 80% of workshop participants achieved a passing score of at least 10/15 upon evaluation of the Presentation.

 – To ensure at least 70% of the signed-up participants turn up on 4th December 2021 (event day)

Indicators of Success:

– Social Media Advocacy (Instagram Posts: Reach 200, Content Interactions: 100, Stories: 50 each. Facebook Posts: Reach 200, Engagement:10) 

 – Identifying the knowledge in our demographic Instagram quiz – 80% correct response.

 – Post Event Survey Form: at least 80% of the Respondents with 80% correct responses.

 – Workshops: 80% of workshop participants achieved a passing score of at least 10/15 upon evaluation of the Presentation. 6 workshops with different topics/scenarios. Assessment through 3 indicators, including Attitude, Sensitivity, and Effectiveness. 5 points/indicator (total 15 points per presentation).

 – Panel Discussion: 70% turn up rate from signed-up participants on ZOOM Pro on the event day.

Methodology:

– Social media advocacy

 Instagram and Facebook

 Social media advocacy to start on the 28th November 2021

 Posters and infographics. One (1) post per day, in a total of 12 posters.

 Instagram quizzes through Instagram Story on HIV knowledge.

 Instagram Live discussion among the National officers of SCORA, SCOPH and KL AIDS Service Society.

  – Panel discussion

 To invite from Malaysian AIDS Council, KL AIDS Service Society and special guests as guest panelists. There will be 3 panelists for this panel discussion with 1 Panel Moderator.

 The 1-hour panel discussion, 8 questions. 

 – Workshop

 To have 4 to 6 workshops of 20 participants/workshop segments.

 30 minutes segment. 10 minutes introduction to the workshop and 20 minutes on scenario-based workshops.

Plans for evaluation:

– Pre-Evaluation survey form and Post-Evaluation survey forms: To create 20 questions for pre-event; post-event surveys.

 – Quiz: 10 questions discussed in Panel Discussion (not primary evaluation).

  – Workshop Presentation Assessment: To evaluate the presentation based on 3 indicators. Attitude, Sensitivity and Effectiveness.
