Problem statement:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health and development threat. It requires urgent multisectoral action in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The WAAW Campaign Activity is an AMR Awareness Campaign in commemoration of WAAW.Its Main Objective is to Increase the Awareness and Knowledge of AMR within the General Public and One health Professionals Around Africa also to Develop Strategic Actions and Solutions to AMR within the Region.

Objectives:
- To Raise Awearness of the General Public towards AMR whithin Campaign period through online Advocacy.
- To access and improve the knowledge of AMR among at least 100 One health Students through master class
- Encourage Strategies and Solutions to combat AMR
Indicators of Success:
- A total of 100 or more Participants in the WhatsApp Master class.
- Recording a total of at least 200 views daily on WhatsApp and social media platforms
- Participants capable of generating and suggesting solutions to AMR by second day of Masterclass.
Methodology:
- Creation of Social Media Campaign fliers and webinar Fliers for Awareness Activity (A french flier was created also)
- Social Media Campaigns would be ongoing from first day of WAAW Utilizing fliers already created for the Activity, this was part of the preliminary efforts as well as promoting our 2days online master class on all Available Social Media platforms.
- Master Class lectures to be held on WhatsApp in two phases; first day for the Introduction of concept, relevance and Solutions to AMR in today’s world and second day to Shed light on Opportunities in AMR and why we should be involved and open up Floor for ideas and Innovations
- Social Media Campaign would continue until final day of WAAW.”
Plans for evaluation:
- Pre Evaluation Surveys was shared to Participants to test their knowledge of AMR.
- The Results from the Pre Assessment would be Analyzed by the team and the Facilitators. It formed part of the materials used to formulate the lectures.
- Question and Answer method would be utilized by the Facilitators to assess and impact knowledge of participants
- WhatsApp status views would be recorded daily for each day of Activity. Other Social Media reactions would also be noted using sprout social app.
