Type of the activity: Education. Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).
General description:
The CCIER arises as a need to delve into the field of rare diseases, this type of condition being the cause of disease in more than 10,000 people. For the present edition, regional epidemiology will be taken into account, with emphasis on: Neurofibromatosis type 1… Each of these talks will last approximately 40 minutes and will be in charge of qualified specialists in each of them.
In its sixth version, the CCIER will be held in the city of Bucaramanga, in the facilities of the Faculty of Health of the UIS, on the 27th and September 28 of the current year, dividing the event like this: the first day will be the congress that will consist of academic conferences on Rare Diseases, and on the second day the scientific contest will be held in the categories of clinical case reports, protocols of research and research work.

Problem statement:
In Colombia there are around three and a half million of its inhabitants who suffer from a rare disease, which represents 7% of the population. In Colombia, it has been determined that one in five thousand inhabitants suffers from one of these. It is well known that rare diseases are difficult to diagnose and therefore difficult to treat, however, it has been proven that some of these diseases with a correct approach can provide a normal life to those who suffer from it.

Objectives and indicators of success:
• Dedicate a day to the transmission of scientific knowledge to the participants of the event about rare diseases by various specialists.
• Receive research protocols, research papers and reports of clinical cases to be presented during the event; ensuring that these will be evaluated by staff with sufficient experience in the subject and reward those who obtain the best qualification.
• Attendance to the event and number of works received for each category of the contest: We are hoping a total number of attendance about 200-400 people.
Methodology:
The event is divided into two parts: the first, held on the first day, which consists of a series of lectures of 40 minutes duration by experts in order to provide scientific knowledge of the subject. The second part consists of the scientific contest, during the second day, which will go through 2 evaluative phases, the summary phase and the in-extended evaluation, prior to the oral presentation, which would be the last evaluative phase.
Plans for evaluation:
• Evaluate the satisfaction of the attendees regarding the topics discussed during the talks through a survey at the end of the day
• Evaluate the amount of works received to participate in the contest
• Evaluate attendance at the event
