General description:

The Ayta community of brgy. Pa-wen, San Marcelino, Zambales has been the beneficary of AMSA FEU-NRMF in the previous year. However, due to the many opportunities limited by unexpected and uncontrolled cirumstances, there has been a lack in follow-up and monitoring. Hence, the organization would like to continue and follow up with the indigenous community with health services at its core. This project also addresses the problems discovered and faced in the said year. These health services will be based on the core principles of community development; that forbids the temporal benefits of cross-sectional or one-time-big-time projects such as feeding programs and donations as the project aims to establish sustainable livelihood services that will depend on the organization’s conduct of research and survey. It will be composed of four phases: I. Ocular Visit and Data Analysis, II. Public Health Assessment III. Long-term Intervention IV. Follow-up, and Monitoring.

Problem statement:

1. The objective of the activity was to assess and establish a sustainable livelihood service for their community.
-Conduct a research and survey

2. Provide a long term intervention such as monitoring and follow-up
-Feedback and evaluation forms with follow-up

Methodology:

These health services will be based on the core principles of community development; that forbids the temporal benefits of cross-sectional or one-time-big-time projects such as feeding programs and donations as the project aims to establish sustainable livelihood services that will depend on the organization’s conduct of research and survey. Plans for evaluation:

Before the activity, we conducted a survey on the community and found out that they have misperceptions about hypertension. The team then conducted a seminar/talk to raise awareness on hypertension and provided the community an infographic about it. to asses the long term effect, we are going back to the community to follow-up their knowledge about hypertension such as their activity, diet, and monitoring.
