General description:
Smoking poses major strain on Jordan health care system. It’s the one major risk factor common to NCDs; those which happen to be the leading cause of death in Jordan.
We aim to collaborate with multiple organizations from the smoke-free alliance to advocate for a healthy smoke-free environment and publicize about the harmful effects of smoking on our health, all to be established through multiple awareness events (both; through social media portals and on field), workshops, research, training sessions and even a conference.
We will be covering many areas in Jordan, and we will mainly influence the public through hospitals, health centers, schools, universities, and many more of the public places.

Problem statement:
According to the WHO; in 2015, over 1.1 billion people smoke tobacco. According to a global study; Jordan topped Middle East countries in the prevalence of smoking among males, and third in terms of female smokers.
This study showed that the rate of smoking among Jordanian men was 43.4 per cent in 2012, while the prevalence of smoking among females in Jordan stood at 8.5 per cent. 51% of Jordanians are exposed to passive smoking in public areas.

Objectives and indicators of success:
Advocating for a smoke-free environment by raising awareness on the effects of smoking and equipping medical students with skills and knowledge needed to fight smoking
1- To decrease the incidence of smokers and passive smokers in Jordan
2-To highlight the deleterious effects of tobacco as a risk factor for NCDs
3-Survey for smokers in Jordan and its effect
Methodology:
Spot Checks Visits: Volunteers will be participating in The King Hussein Cancer Center “Smoke-Free Zone” Certificate by performing the spot check visits on field among all sectors applying for it.

Social Media Events: By sharing videos and info graphics. Also, we will contact specialists to conduct live interviews with them.
Training Sessions for Medical Students
Awareness Events: covering many public places in Jordan through many attractive and effective ways
TDT Workshop: KHCC’s program is the only program outside the USA to receive full accreditation from the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP).
