General description:
Training of Advocacy in Medical Education workshop is a national SCOME Workshop which is similar to the international AMET workshop. The aim of this workshop is to provide knowledge and develop skills for participants to be able to lead, advocate, and generate an impact in Medical Education nationally and locally. The ultimate goal is that by training our members in student representation, we are not only shaping Medical Education, but also the quality of healthcare.
Problem statement:
Training medical students in medical education using peer-led education is a great empowering tool to galvanize medical students to participate in capacitating their peers with regards to medical education. Moreover, conducting events such as this workshop helps our local committees (universities) to capacitate their members in terms of medical education and sustain their work.

Objectives:
– To provide participants with the needed knowledge to understand the medical
education concepts, system and SCOME
– To improve participants’ session designing skills
– To train the participants about communication, facilitation and public speaking
skill
– Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to evaluate their
sessions
– Participants are able to engage their members during sessions
– Participants are empowered to ensure continuous development of their
knowledge
– Provide participants with the needed knowledge and skills to work on accreditation of medical schools in Sudan, Curriculum Design, Development, & Implementation, meaningful students’ involvement and social accountability
– 100% of participants will fulfill the graduation criteria from the TMEE workshop
– To prepare a suitable atmosphere to build strong social relations between
workshop participants
Indicators of Success:
– All participants are able to choose and use the appropriate evaluation tools
– At least 90% of participants are able to use different training methodologies within
their sessions
– at least 90% of participants are able to use different training methodologies within
their sessions
– At least 90% of participants are able to derief, brief and provide useful feedback
during their sessions
– At least 80% of participants report an increase in their potentials using the follow-up
assessment plans
– 80% of participant can deliver an AQA session, Curriculum Design & Development session, meaningful students involvement session and social accountability sessions
– MedSIN-Sudan SCOME has got at least 15 active medical education educators
– Daily social programs are organized during the workshop duration
Methodology:
Phase 1: Organizing committee appointment:
To appoint an organizing committee consists of:
- Head of OCs
- Fundraising and venue
- Hosting committee
- Logistics committee
Phase 2: fundraising: we will use two parallel ways for fundraising; inside khartoum with
companies and with NGOs through different theme events. the first source for the fundraising will be the participants fees which is going to be 15,000 SDGs (preliminary)
Phase 3: Participants and trainers selection:
create the invitation package and open call for Trainers and Participants
Phase 4: preworkshop reparations:
For participants – to confirm their registration by communicating with them and collecting the registration fees.
For trainers – distribute the sessions with them and follow-up with sessions
For OCs – set an operational plan for organizing the workshop
Phase 5: Implementation.

National Public Health Institute (PHI)
A governmental institution related to the Ministry of Health which is responsible for establishing the national health issues related policies. They provide us with a venue for the workshop.
