Name of the activity: Sexuality Education for Advanced
Country/NMO: Czech Republic (IFMSA-CZ)
Program: Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
Contact information: [email protected]
Type of the activity: Education. Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).
Our Activity is based on principles of CSE and peer-to-peer education because pupils that are thought have much better response to knowledge transfer from peer educator than for teacher in school because they may be shy, teachers have lack of sex-positive approach etc. Activity is based on trainers (having graduated IPET or TACSE) that train lecturers who visit schools in pairs and lead workshop where topics such as STI`s and their prevention (practical demonstration on how to use condom properly) or contraception methods are touched and at the end of each workshop is space for anonymous questions. We spread sex-positive approach which means that big part of our workshop sis based on games and interactive exercises. After each workshop feedback is gathered and evaluated. During our workshops condoms gained from sponsors are distributed and also used for workshop purposes.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education
Children and young people do not have suitable form of sexuality education at their primary and secondary schools and if there is some form of sexuality education, it is done by teachers that have quite big age difference for their students and do not have appropriate skills and tools to transfer knowledge about prevention of STI`s and other topics on sexuality education and have lack of sex-positive approach.
Objectives and indicators of success:
O1: Have more members trained by according peer education trainings.
I1: At least 1 member at each LC completed IPET (International Peer Education Training) and at least 1 member in NMO having TACSE.
O2: Raise number of young people participating a tour Activity.
I2.1.: Have at least 5 active partners (schools) per NMO in one year.
I2.2.: Educate at least 150 children in one year per LC.
O3: Keep materials and workshop outline up to date.
I3: Revise materials and outline at least once a year and keep a log with date of update and changes made.
At the beginning of every academic year at each LC training for new lecturers is made by local coordinator of Activity (usually LORA). Coordinator of Activity at each LC is in charge of planning workshops and communication with schools and filling workshops with lecturers.
Plans for evaluation:
We have an electronic survey which is handed to participants of every workshop and they are asked to fill questions about quality of the workshop, quality of lecturers and they have space for writing some additional comments. Outputs from survey is processed at local and national level and changes are made if needed.
