General description:

SCOFFEES are online meetings in which we discuss current issues about the medicine students body. The facilitators prepare an introduction about the specific topic of the SCOFFEE and the participants can discuss about it and learn different hard and soft skills to improve their knowledge. 

Problem statement:

In Spain, 41% of Medicine students have syntoms of depression. Furthermore, studies reflect that the 24% suffering from anxiety and 38% burnout.

Notwithstanding the great knowledge acquired during the university degree, mental health continues to be a taboo.

For this reason, we consider it important to carry out activities that raise awareness about mental health in de student body.

Objectives:

– Signs and symptoms recognition 

– Educate medical students on mental health with specific tools 

– Increased access to mental health services

– Know the position of IFMSA Spain members about Mental Health in the Medicine degree 

– Establish the framework for draft policy documents about Mental Health in IFMSA Spain

Indicators:

– 75% of participants know recognice signs and symptons of anxiety, burnout and depression

– 75% of participants know the avaibility resources in our country for the students body 

– Claim to the universities the needment of mental health resources 

– Draft Policy Documents about Mental Health in IFMSA Spain. For the NGA review and draft 2 policy documents.

Methodology:

– Timeline: 4-5 sessions in the current term

– Leadership structure: the session will be organized by the SCOPH national team, it will be promoted by our VPPRC and our LCs

– Resources: Published research about Mental Health in Spain and Medicine Students Mental Health articles.

The sessions are going to be by Google Meets, to make them accessible.

The inscription will contain a pre evaluation about the contents tackled in the session.

Plans for evaluation:

-Pre and post evaluation form for the participants.

-Evaluate the quality content of the session by the participants.

-Evaluate the impact about our posts on social media platforms
