Type of the activity: Capacity Building (Training or Workshop). Teaching and develop knowledge, skills and techniques in a particular field. While training can have any form, workshops are more formal and also include exchange of information between participants.
General description:
The scientific congress of FEVESOCEM, is one of our major events, which seeks to integrate the different universities in the country through an academic environment. Our goal is to provide medical students with novel tools and updates in the management of pathologies, with an emphasis on primary health care.

Problem statement:
Taking into account the Venezuelan context and the humanitarian and economic crisis we are going through as a country, it is important to create opportunities that benefit the student’s training of the medical student, promoting the development and learning of novel techniques, updating in treatment and management of common pathologies that subsequently benefit the general population and patients, at an affordable cost.

Objectives and indicators of success:
1. Develop an event that contains lectures in various clinical areas that seek to update the medical student and increase performance in their daily practice.
Indicator: Number of conferences planned, Number of attendees
2. Generate spaces for formal education, with workshops dictated by specialists and endorsed by the board of directors of the school of medical headquarters and the local medical school.
Indicators: Number of workshops dictated. Test before and after the workshop with a minimum approval of 70% for certification. Amount of credit hours granted by the local medical school.
3. Encourage research and scientific development in the various universities of the country through activities such as “Science Fair”, “Clinical Case Contest”, “Medical Photography Contest”.
Indicators: Number of participants. Number of clinical cases sent.
Methodology:
Develop a three-day event, with an approximate of ten to twenty conferences. Simultaneously develop formal workshops, dictated by doctors and endorsed by the host university and the scientific fair, created by students.

Through the aforementioned indicators:
Number of participants registered in the scientific branch of the event. Number of clinical cases sent.
Number of formal workshops dictated. Test before and after the workshop with a minimum approval of 70% for certification. Amount of credit hours granted by the local medical school.
