Call for Youth PreWHA and World Health Assembly is Open!

Dear IFMSA,
We would like to announce the opening of the call for applications for one of the main WHO and global health events of the year, the annual World Health Assembly (WHA).
The 69th WHA will be held from May 23rd to May 29th, 2016, in Geneva, Switzerland. Attended by delegations from 194 Member States as well as recognized international NGOs and other partners, WHA is the annual gathering of the highest decision-making body of WHO.
As in previous years, IFMSA will be organising a Youth PreWHA Workshop on Global Health Diplomacy and Global Health Governance from May 18th to May 22nd, 2016, just before the WHA.
The preWHA is open to IFMSA members as well as other youth organizations from various disciplines, creating an inter-professional working environment. The workshop aims to empower and strengthen the advocacy skill set of future health leaders as well as increasing the participants knowledge about global health topics that are central to the 69th World Health Assembly. Furthermore, the event aims to improve the youth participation at the WHA and strengthen the youths voice during global health negotiations.
Please fill out the form in the link below and send your NMO Confirmation Letter (signed and stamped candidature form) and Medical School Confirmation Letter to [email protected] and [email protected] before January 31st, 2016, 23:59GMT. Please use the subject of the email Application preWHA.
You find the application form here: http://tinyurl.com/
Accepted applicants will be notified no later than February 13th, 2016.
This year it will be optional whether to attend both the preWHA and the WHA or to only attend the preWHA. Registration fee for the preWHA is 270 euros and covers all expenses pertaining to the preWHA itself (i.a. food, accommodation and materials). The Organizing Committee aims to organize accommodation during the World Health Assembly for interested delegates, but rates and availability are not yet known. More information on this will be shared with accepted applicants.
Accepted applicants will need to register through a dedicated registration form in which they provide more practical information and make the payment directly (using PayPal, credit card or bank transfer). More information regarding final registration will be shared with accepted applicants.
Selected participants to the Youth preWHA Workshop are expected to fully commit to the events preparations, contribute to the implementation of the advocacy strategy that will be developed during preWHA, and sustain involvement during the post-WHA follow-up.
If and once selected, the participant is expected to commit with the events preparation: relevant preparatory materials will be sent by the Organizing Committee to the delegation, must-read documents will be shared and online meetings held, to ensure adequate preparation and meaningful attendance at the event.
