organ donation saving life – Morocco (IFMSA-Morocco)
Name of the activity: organ donation saving life
Country/NMO: Morocco (IFMSA-Morocco)
Program: Organ, Marrow & Tissue Donation
Contact information: [email protected]
Type of the activity: Education
Focus area:
Organ donation
Problem statement:
in morocco, organ donation is still a new topic, and there are not too many talks about it, we find many misconceptions about it. Also medical students are not taught about it in a proper and efficient way
Target groups and beneficiaries:
medical students of Rabat, secondary target group is the general population
beneficiaries are patients that will benefit from organs in the future
Objectives and indicators of success:
improve knowledge of medical students regarding organ donation
encourage medical students to register in the organ donation national registry
indicators are number of students present in the event
also number of views in our online organ donation video
Methodology:
we started our activity by contacting the university to set up the date and location of the conference, we then started planning the agenda and inviting speakers, then we contacted the national court to insure presence of organ donation registry at the conference.
At the same time we designed and made a video about organ donation that we have shared in social media
the day of the conference had presentations about different aspects of organ donation, legal, ethical, religious, technical… we had also real testemonies from patients who recieved organs, also we explained to students how to speak about it with familly and convince them. along the conference students were registring as donors.
Plans for evaluation:
counting the number of students present, counting the number of registrations in the registry, evaluating knowledge of students by the quiz, and seeing the number of views in our video
