Yielding 10 millions deaths by 2050, Antimicrobial Resistance is considered by the WHO as an increasingly serious hazard to health that requires action across all government sectors and society. Such a threat can only be tackled by a holistic and multi-sectoral approach, that involves humans, animals and the environment, referred to as One Health.
Between 12th and 18th of November, for the WHO World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW), the World Health Students´ Alliance (WHSA), namely the International Veterinary Students´ Association (IVSA), International Pharmaceutical Students´ Federation (IPSF), International Association of Dental Students (IADS) and International Federation of Medical Students´ Associations (IFMSA) have prepared a joint online campaign full of activities aimed to raise awareness on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Our activities will, amongst others, include Facebook initiatives, videos and a competition you should not miss!
Follow us for the whole week, and together we will take you on a journey to show you different aspects of AMR. Therefore, in synergy with our partners, each day will focus on one of the following themes: One Health, Sanitation, Environment, Animal health, Financial burden, Innovation, and Action.
A major part of this year’s WAAW is “One Minute – One Health”, a video competition aimed to raise awareness amongst healthcare students about Antimicrobial Resistance and the One Health approach. Through the videos, we can contribute to the efforts to tackle AMR by proposing solutions and educating our audience.
Get your creativeness on board, call your friends and show your vision of Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health to the entire world, in just 60 seconds!
Healthcare students can enter the competition by submitting their creative entries from October 21st until November 18th, 2018 to [email protected]. For more information about the competition, please check this document.
Winners will be announced in the week following the WAAW – stay tuned for the awesome prizes we have prepared for the winning teams!
