Problem statement:
Healthcare providers are prone to face violence in different types anytime during their careers. According to the WHO, between 8% and 38% of health care workers suffer from physical violence at some point in their lives which lead to poor providing for healthcare due to their emigration or leaving their jobs. On the other hand, future healthcare providers don’t have enough knowledge to manage such situations or what are the available tools that they can use to help them to tackle this issue.

Goals:
- To raise awareness regarding Violence Against Healthcare Professionals (VAH) inside the IFMSA-Iraq community and the whole community as well.
- To increase the number of IFMSA-Iraq members who have fair advocacy and debating skills.
Objectives:
[For Goal 1]
- To deliver four online sessions about topics related to the VAH to 25 IFMSA-Iraq members from 8 LCs by the 20th of July
- To conduct sessions about VAH for 120 medical students from 10 LCs around Iraq by the 20th of August.
- To conduct a social media campaign regarding the VAH on IFMSA-Iraq Platforms by the 31st of July.
[For Goal 2]
- To deliver one training session on debate skills to 25 IFMSA-Iraq members from 8 LCs by the 20th of July.
- To deliver one training session on advocacy skills to 25 IFMSA-Iraq members from 8 LCs by the 20th of July.
- To hold an online debate about cases related to VAH to be done by 25 IFMSA-Iraq Members from 8 LCs by the 20th of July.
Indicators of Success:
[For Goal 1]
- At least three online sessions will be delivered for at least 20 IFMSA-Iraq Members from 6 LCs by the 20th of July.
- At least one session will be conducted for at least 100 medical students from at least 8 LCs by the 20th of August.
- at least one social media campaign will be conducted by the 31st of July.
[For Goal 2]
- At least one training session will be delivered for at least 20 participants from at least 5 LCs and at least 20 of them will be able to debate using the debating skills regarding VAH related cases by the 20th of July.
- At least one training session will be delivered for at least 20 participants from at least 5 LCs and at least 20 of them will be able to advocate for healthcare workers rights by the 20th of July.
- At least one debate session will be delivered by at least 20 participants from at least 5 LCs and at least 20 of them will be able to debate using the debating skills regarding VAH related cases. by the 20th of July.
Methodology:
- Getting the IFMSA-Iraq EB Approval – 17th of June – 27th of June.
- Opening the call for Sessions’ Team and OC – 29th of June – 5th of July.
- Selection of the ST and OC – 6th of July.
- Preparing sessions’ materials. – 7th of July – 14th of July.
- Opening the call for participants – 3rd of July – 10th of July.
- Preparing the Social media campaign materials – 7th of July – 10th of July
- Selection of the participants – 11th of July – 12th of July
- Preparing pre/post evaluation forms – 7th of July – 14th of July.
- The Sessions take place – 15th of July – 18th of July.
- Publishing our social media campaign – 10th of July – 31st of July.
- Holding Panel Discussion – 18th of July – 25th of July.
- Conducting sessions about VAH in LCs- 20th of July – 20th of August.”
Plans for evaluation:
- Need Assessment: by sending pre evaluation forms to the participants.
- Monitoring: by observing the activity of the participants during the activity.
- Summative Evaluation: by sending post evaluation forms. A long term evaluation would be done by measuring the numbers of participants who will work with SCORP on the implementation of VAH policy.
- By measuring the achievements of our objectives as written in indicators of success and how we reach them based on the numbers and the timeline we have planned for.
