MM2017: Second Call for Plenary Team & Financial Committee

IFMSA prides itself to be the voice of 1.3 million medical students worldwide. Because of this status, we are recognized by international organizations to be the official representative of medical students. IFMSA has a long democratic tradition. If you are passionate about making this process just and fair, about making sure every voice is heard – then grab this opportunity and apply for the Plenary Team.
In order to make all the work of IFMSA possible, the Federation needs to have a financial administration in place. The Financial Committee audits IFMSA bookkeeping twice a year, reviews financial reports of General Assemblies as well as Travel Assistance Fund (TAF) applicants. If you like money talk and if you like to work with numbers, then apply for the Financial Committee.
You can apply for the following positions on the Plenary Team:
1. Chairperson
The Chairperson is the person responsible for coordinating the plenary team, chairing the plenary sessions, the final production of the plenary minutes as well as communicating with the EB on behalf of the Plenary Team. For further information of the tasks of the Chairperson, please refer to Paragraph 3.17 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for Plenary Chairperson must be experienced in plenaries, have attended at least one GA, have good knowledge of the plenary procedures and willing to dedicate most of the GA towards plenary sessions work. Applicants also should possess sufficient leadership skills to lead the plenary team.
2. Vice-Chairperson
The Vice Chairperson will be working along with the plenary Chairperson, taking over chairing in case the Chairperson is not present for any reason out of the reasons mentioned in the Bylaws. For further information on the tasks of the Vice-Chairperson, please refer to Paragraph 3.18 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for Plenary Vice Chairperson shall possess the same requirements as the Plenary Chairperson as well as willing to cooperate with the Chairperson to ensure efficient and smooth plenary teamwork.
3. Secretary
The plenary Secretary is responsible for coordination of the plenary secretary assistants and ensure the proper taking of minutes of the plenary sessions. The Secretary is appointed by the Chairperson. For more information on the tasks of the Secretary, please refer to Paragraphs 3.19 and 3.86 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for this position shall possess excellent blind typing skills as well as fluent written and spoken English. Applicants should have an experience in minute taking that is sufficient for the task. Applicants also should possess sufficient leadership and organizational skills to lead the Secretary team.
4. Assistant-Secretaries
The plenary secretary assistants are responsible for taking the minutes of the plenary sessions along with the Plenary Secretary. The Assistant-Secretaries are appointed by the Chairperson. For more information on the tasks of the Assistant-Secretaries, please refer to Paragraphs 3.19 and 3.86 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for this position should possess excellent blind typing skills as well as fluent written and spoken English. It is highly recommended that applicants should be able to dedicate most of their time on the minutes of the GA.
5. Returning Officers
The Returning officer is expected to work closely with the plenary team and should help out with logistical tasks within the plenary hall, including assisting in voting procedures. For more information, please refer to Paragraph 3.20 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for returning officers must be available during all plenary sessions and will to cooperate with the plenary team for smooth plenary sessions.
6. Constitution Credential Committee members
The five members of the Constitution Credential Committee members shall work together in order to fulfill the tasks mentioned in the Bylaws. The tasks of the CCC is centered on ensuring following of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws. The CCC is the decision-making body when it comes to disagreements on the interpretations of the Bylaws. The CCC reviews all applications, candidatures and motions in order not to be in contradiction with IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws. For more information, please refer to Paragraphs 3.21 to 3.25 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws.
Applicants for the Constitution Credential Committee shall be delegates from full national member organizations, which had voting rights at the previous General Assembly Meeting, or delegates from associate member organizations, which had fulfilled all requirements at the previous General Assembly Meeting as per Paragraph 3.22 of the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws. Applicants cant be from any NMO represented in the Executive Board. Applicants must have attended at least one GA before and possess experience in the procedures of the plenary sessions.

Please note that three members of the Constitution Credential Committee have already been appointed by the Executive Board. Therefore, two positions on the CCC remain open.
If you would like to apply for the Financial Committee
The Financial Committee consists of three to five delegates from full or associate National Member Organizations, which are not represented in the Executive Board. Candidates from the financial committee cannot be from NMOs who had previously hosted a general assembly of which the financial report has yet to be checked by the financial committee. Members of the Financial Committee must have attended at least one previous General Assembly meeting. Please note that one member of the Financial Committee has already been appointed by the Supervising Council. Therefore, four positions on the FC remain open.

If you are interested in any of the above mentioned positions within the Plenary Team and the Financial Committee, don’t hesitate to apply right away.
Important Notes You Should Know First
If you are interested in the position on the plenary team or financial committee, you have to confirm you will be present at the venue of the General Assembly on the early morning of the arrival day.
If you are interested in joining the plenary team or the financial committee, you have to be committed to attending the full length of the General Assembly.
You can only apply for one position during one call.
IFMSA doesn’t g?rant an extra spot for the General Assembly for the plenary team and the financial committee(except for the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson), so you have to have your spot within your delegation.
IFMSA doesn’t grant any financial support for the plenary team or the financial committee (except for the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson).
When applying for the Constitutional Credential Committee or the Financial Committee, review whether your NMO is eligible to do so.
