General description:
Competition in medical skills for medical students in groups of 3, where they will compete in practical skills they will need in clinics in form of cases and simulations that will be evaluated as objectively as possible with international attendance.
Focus area:
Competition in medical skills
Problem statement:
Our Activity propagates modern educational methods. Students are learning while completing cases on actors/simulators while having fun. They get to experience what it is like to act under pressure on clinic before they become doctors. Competition mainly focuses on practical skills and are working with up to date modern simulators with supervision of professional staff. Activity also collaborates with other medical students organization, namely ANSA and FILS.
Target groups:
Medical students
Beneficiaries:
General population, Medical students
Objectives and indicators of success:
Objectives are to create realistic cases that are evaluated as objectively as possible and to include other countries next year – Indicator of succes: all tasks will be cases/simulations with standardised evaluation process. We know what we are doing tis is 5th year, last year we improved it a lot and we are already working on next year.
Methodology:
We use cases that are handpicked by the doctors that evaluate them, for every case standardised check is made where everythign from greeting to running a certain lab test is worth set amount of points. Other universities will be contacted directly by dean and hopefully after formal invitation students will get days off to attend.
Plans for evaluation:
At least 1 team from university outside of Slovakia. All acitvities cases/simulations with point checklists.
