Type of the activity: Education. Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).

General description:

The activity will last approximately 5 hours, consists of 2 phases that will be carried out in a single day.

Phase 1:

A symposium will be held with topics such as: What is the etiology, development and treatment of diseases? What do physical, intellectual, auditory and visual disabilities consist of, What kind of implications could occur? Psychological repercussions in people with any type of disability and how to help them.

These topics will be exposed by qualified professionals in each branch. The same will have a time of 1 hours 45 minutes along with 20 minutes for questions from the public.

Phase 2:

We go at “Hogar San Camilo de Lellis”, where there will be dynamics, dances, and games, to have a close encounter with people facing these diseases and learn more about how they lead their lifestyle. That phase will have a time of 2 hours 30 minutes along.

Problem statement:

Statistical data indicate that within the Loja canton, 6315 people with disabilities are registered, with 40.32% physical disabilities, 27.74% intellectual, 13.40% auditory, 12.41% visual and 6.13% psychosocial.

The study of disability from different sciences has had, an orientation towards the search for the improvement of the people who suffer it, through the elimination of the physical and social barriers that limit their incorporation into society, or that affect their affected capacities.

Objectives and indicators of success:

Sensitize approximately 40 medical students from the city of Loja, on the topics that encompass physical, intellectual, auditory, visual and psychosocial disabilities; through two talks by health professionals to roll out at the Auditorium “Antonio Peña Celi” of the UNL and at “Hogar San Camilo de Lellis”, on February 23, 2019.

Executed in 2 parts, with approximately 5 hours of development in total.

➔ Positive result indicator: minimum attendance of 40 participants at the local level.

Analyze the generalities of the disabilities registered in Loja, addressing psychosocial and medical contexts.

➔ Positive result indicator: attendance of 2 excellent medical professionals at the local level.

Provide comprehensive information on physical, intellectual, auditory, visual and psychosocial disabilities so that participants have the ability to accept others without discrimination.

➔ Positive result indicator: Awaken the interest of the attendees to be good doctors in front of these people with disabilities.

Methodology:

The project “Living with angels” will be developed on 23 February 2018 and will approximately 5 hours of development in total, in which a practical symposium will be held:

The first phase will run from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, which corresponds to a talk, given by two specialists in Human Health:The General Physician will begin the symposium by discussing medical related topics.With a duration of approximately 45 minutes,followed by this we will have the intervention of a Psychologist where we will learn about mental health in disabled people, this operation will also last 45 minutes.

The second phase will take place from 15:00 to 17:30 in “Hogar San Camilo de Lellis” will have an introduction by the Director of the home about their work with the society. Following this, we will have the life experience with girls in the home where there will be dynamic, dances and games, to have a close encounter with people who face these diseases.

Plans for evaluation:

• Before the project: Through a Google registration form, participants will be asked about:

What is a disability?

How do you think a disability affects?

Do you know what disability incidence statistics are within the Loja canton?

What measures are taken to avoid discrimination against this type of

person?

Once the participants are confirmed, a WhatsApp group will be created where the indications will be given prior to each phase, and the requirements that must be met to be creditors of the certificate.

• During the project: the number of attendees will be verified

• After the project: An online feedback will be sent through a Google form, which will be sent a maximum of one week after the completion of the project, giving participants 7 days to fill it out. It is essential to be creditors of the certificate that the participants have obtained a minimum score of 7 points in the feedback in addition, must have attended the two phases of the project.
