We are excited to open the call for applications to form the IFMSA delegation for the WFUMB 2025 Ultrasound World Conference. This congress, themed “Ultrasound toward a Sustainable Healthcare System,” will gather experts and practitioners in Kyoto to explore how ultrasound can transform healthcare delivery globally. This event aligns with our mission to advance sustainable and equitable healthcare worldwide.
About the WFUMB 2025 Congress
The WFUMB Congress is a leading global forum on medical ultrasound, featuring workshops, keynote sessions, oral and poster presentations, and networking opportunities. Topics include AI innovations, portable ultrasound, elastography, and ultrasound in diverse healthcare applications. With the impact of ultrasound in sustainable healthcare as the focal theme, the congress will highlight its role in building responsive, efficient, and accessible healthcare systems across all regions.

Role of the IFMSA Delegation
The IFMSA delegation will include five members, including our Liaison Officer for Medical Sciences and Research Issues (LSR) as Head of Delegation. Delegates will engage with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and academic leaders to advance IFMSA’s stance on integrating ultrasound in sustainable healthcare and network with global partners. Delegate responsibilities include:
- Participating fully in congress sessions, workshops, and discussions.
- Supporting pre-event preparations and post-event follow-up activities.
- Representing IFMSA by contributing to advocacy efforts and promoting IFMSA’s policies and initiatives on social media.
- Collaborating to develop materials related to the conference theme.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on:
- Motivation and experience in the topic: Strong interest in ultrasound and sustainable healthcare, with relevant experience.
- External Affairs and Advocacy Experience: Experience in IFMSA external affairs efforts and IFMSA policy work (the related work carried out outside of IFMSA can also be evaluated).
- Contribution Plans: Contribute to the delegation and follow-up plans, especially on the local and national levels, and participate in opportunities to assist future delegations.
- Diversity: Regional and gender representation will be taken into account.
Application Process
- Complete the Application Form by November 12, 2024, 23:59 GMT. It is an online form with several questions that comprise the application. Please note the character limit and respond only to what is being asked.
- Upload the Candidature Form, signed and stamped by your NMO President, within the application form.
- Use the official name “WFUMB 2025 Ultrasound World Conference” in the CF
- The CF must be signed and stamped by your respective NMO President for the application to be valid. In case the NMO President is applying, the CF must be signed by another member of the NMO’s EB or TO.
Proof of Enrollment of being a medical student or a student from a healthcare-related field, or not having graduated more than 6 months by the time the external meeting starts is needed.
