In Reflection (V odsevu) – Slovenia (SloMSIC)
Name of the activity: In Reflection (V odsevu)
Country/NMO: Slovenia (SloMSIC)
Program: Mental Health
Contact information: [email protected]
Type of the activity: Education
General description:
The activity focuses on destigmatization of mental health issues. Our primary target are students of secondary school from Slovenia, whom we reach by peer-educational workshops and visual and literal art competitions. Events, such as human library and conventions, and social media campaigns are delivered for the general public.
Focus area:
Mental Health among the general population
Problem statement:
1 in 3 people will experience some form of mental health issues during their lifetime. Stigma attached to them is one of the most important reasons why people opt not to seek professional help.
Target groups and beneficiaries:
Our target group are predominently students of secondary schools (14-19 y.o.), but we also focus on medical students and the general population.
Objectives and indicators of success:
to reach at least 1800 Slovenian high school students/year with our workshops (no. of workshops, surveys)
organize at least 2 awareness campaigns for around 400 ppl in a year (no. of events, surveys)
organize at least 2 art competitions/year with around 100 students from primary and secondary school participating (no. of events, no. of submitted works)
Methodology:
Our most important subactivity are peer-educational workshops on the topic of mental health issues, held in secondary schools. Different international mental health days are commemorated by preparing various events for general public, e.g. Human library and mental health conference, and graphical and literal art competitions for students of primary and secondary schools. We have an active social media campaign.
Plans for evaluation:
In 2016 a study was conducted, proving our workshops are more than successful at reaching our goals. Other indicators are page views and post engagements on social media, attendance/number of participants and surveys given to participants.
