The internal and external coordinators of the IFMSA Task Force are selected Deputy Organizing Partners of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) World Humanitarian Summit Working Group, which has the official mandate constituency to coordinate all youth engagement in the WHS process. IFMSA thereby have a larger role to play in order to coordinate mobilization, capacity building, consultation and advocacy of all youth within the World Humanitarian Summit Process.
During the IFMSA General Assembly March Meeting 2015, the members of the federation decided with absolute majority to establish a Task Force with the mandate to coordinate the Federation’s involvement and contributions within the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) process. The members of the Task Force were selected through an open call by the IFMSA Executive Board.The Task Force have the task to mobilise and build capacity amongst Federation’s members who wish to be involved in the process; to support members in facilitating consultations; to create and advocate for IFMSA positions on humanitarian issues based on consultation outcomes. The advocacy takes place within formal and informal settings. It is all supervised by the IFMSA Liaison Officer for Human Right and Peace, in order to ensure that it is done within IFMSAs standards and priorities.
The objectives are to ensure that the youth priorities are reflected in the official outcome, continue the creation of an official UN recognized and institutionalized global youth platform in Disaster, Emergency and Humanitarian Issues.The Task Force welcome all member of IFMSA whom are interested in the topic to contribute.
