Problem statement:
Due to huge population & urbanisation, both unintentional(RTA,Natural disasters)& intentional injuries(violence, conflict) increase daily.More than 80% of the population is potentially exposed to floods, earthquakes & droughts,& more than 70% to cyclones.Health facilities & rapid response are not adequate nor organized enough.According to DGHS, it is found that injury patients comprise more than one fifth of all admission & half of all surgical beds.

Objectives:
To educate at least 30 medical students about first aid,triage and ATLS measures by expert health professionals of Dhaka Medical College in a 2 hour long offline workshop arranged on 2 days across a week.
To sensitise at least 20 school students in flood prone areas about natural disasters and response in times of disaster by previously trained local officers of Satkhira Medical College LC in a 2 hour long offline workshop.
Indicators of Success:
80% of the students will be able to illustrate their understanding of clinical skills required to manage the emergency patients in the emergency situations as assessed by situation simulation activities at the end of the workshops.
At the end, 90% of the medical students participating in this workshop will get an idea about natural disasters and what we need to do at that time, evident by their performance in the simulated disaster situation during the workshop.
Methodology:
Part 1:- Workshop on First Aid
An offline workshop will be arranged with at least 30 medical students which will be facilitated by expert health care professionals of the Department of Casualty of DMCH. The duration of the workshop will be 2 hours. The students will be divided into 2 groups, each group having 15 participants which will be facilitated by moderators.
The workshop will include
different first aid maneuvers during emergency, basic dressing, immobilization, CPR, management of hemostasis and so on.
Part 2 : Workshop on Triage and ATLS:
An offline workshop will be arranged with at least 30 medical students on DMC campus which will be facilitated by expert health care professionals of the Department of Orthopaedics of DMCH. The duration of the workshop will be 2 hours. The students will be divided into 2 groups, each group having 15 participants which will be facilitated by moderators.
