Problem statement:
According to data from the Ministry of Human Development and Culture of Indonesia, the waste production rate is 2 liters/person/day consist of 6.17% (1,599,000 tons/year). The amount of paper needed for education in 2018-2019 reached 88,215.09 tons. Therefore, we initiate a Community Development called GO GREEN to increase the knowledge about plastic and paper waste as well as teaching them how to recycle it and also support SDG Points 13 and IFMSA Programs (Environtment & Health).

Objectives:
Improving the knowledge and skills of 12 preclinical students of Islamic Univerity Jakarta in plastic waste and paper waste as well as how to recycle it, its impact on the environment, and zero waste lifestyle through a Zoom Meeting that will be held in January and also measured by the increase of the average post-test score from pre-test with the average post-test score reaching 70 and also the creations of target community recycling works.
Indicators of Success:
– The presence of 12 preclinical students of Islamic Univerity Jakarta at each intervention.
– The presence of 15 SCORP members in each intervention.
– The increase in the average post-test score from the pre-test with the average post-test score at least 75.
– The creation of target community’s recycling works.
Methodology:
GO GREEN is a Community Development held by SCORP CIMSA of Islamic Univerity Jakarta to educate and teach medical students about plastic and paper waste as well as how to recycle it. Before the intervention, we will conduct a primary assessment to measure the medical students knowledge about plastic and paper waste. The first intervention will be held on January 15th, 2022 via Zoom Meeting in form of webinar about plastic and paper waste, its impact to the environment and also zero-lifestyle. The next interventions will be held on January 23rd where the target community will learn how to recycle paper. Some days after the last intervention, we will ask the target community to take a pic of their recycling works and there will be a reward for the most creative one.
Plans for evaluation:
– Pre-post test via google form to measure the the knowledge about the topic that has been given in webinar.
– The creation of target community’s recycling works.
– Committee evaluation questionnaire via google form to measure our members’ involvement and satisfaction of the interventions.
– Stakeholder evaluation that will be asked via private chat in WhatsApp
– External partners evaluation that will be asked via private chat in WhatsApp
External collaborations:
– Faculty of Medicine Islamic University Jakarta as the stakeholder and target community.
– Saya Pilih Bumi (I choose Earth), an Non-Governmental Organizational that focused on environmental movements.
– Kesana kesini (Here and There), focusing on paper craft as well as paper recycling.
