Program: Teaching Medical Skills
Type of the activity: Capacity Building (Training or Workshop). Teaching and develop knowledge, skills and techniques in a particular field. While training can have any form, workshops are more formal and also include exchange of information between participants.
These courses aims to build quality education among health sciences students in topics such as Universal Health Coverage, Climate change, Migrants’ Health or Women’s Health. By organizing these 2 days courses once or twice a year, we aim to educate, motivate and engage students settled in different universities, provide an open and safe space for debate and exchange knowledge and ideas.
Dignified and Non-Discriminatory Healthcare
Health sciences degrees are very centered in the technical-biological knowledge and nothing out of the textbooks is treated in depth. We believe that our LC members need more learning opportunities in extracurricular topics and a meeting point for discussion.
There are plenty of articles proving the benefits of non-formal education, discussion spaces and social education among health sciences students, some relevant authors on the field are Kasper J, Haymaker C or Phillips W.

Objectives and indicators of success:
O: Increase awareness and knowledge among health sciences students about some of the IFMSA’s core topics.
I: 10 participants or more in each course.
O: Giving active members from our LC quality education useful for their future profession.
I: 3/4 of the participants perceive a gain of their knowledge in the topic treated after the course.
O: Increase the motivation of our members strengthening the cooperation network between them.
I: 50% of participants from different universities build projects together within two months after the session.
O: Creating spaces where students from different backgrounds and cultures can share knowledge, experiences and have discussions about different topics.
I: ⅕ of participants are incomings.
I: ⅕ of participants are non-medical students.
O: Give active members the skills and knowledge to develop projects or policy campaigns.
I: ½ of the participants get more engaged in the LC and develop or participate in a project within two months after the course.
I: ½ of the participants get more engaged with the topic and develop or participate in advocacy projects within 6 months after the course.
1. Needs assessment among students. Analysis and decision of the topic of the course depending on which-one has been more in demand.
2. Logistics: find the space, volunteers for the organization of the course, and elaborate the agenda and content of the course in collaboration with ISGlobal.
3. Promotion through social media channels to invite students to the course.
4. Selection of the participants.
5. The 2 days course itself.
6. Evaluation of the course.
Plans for evaluation:
1. Short form before the course including expectations, motivations and concrete questions about the topic addressed.
2. Feedback session at the end of the course.
3. Post activity form consisting of three parts: general logistical evaluation, agenda and content evaluation of the course, and some questions regarding improving future editions with also an open space to propose topics.
