General description:

Community Development GANBATTE takes the topic of obesity due to main focus SCOPH CIMSA on Non-Communicable Disease. Obesity is very closely related to the behavior and lifestyle, is a disease that can be prevented if the risk factor is controlled. The control of obesity can be done with a change in behavior among healthy diet and daily physical activity. Moreover, given the importance of awareness and concern societies about healthy life style, we conducted a Community Development to raise public awareness about the trend of obesity. We carry out a range of activities, among others are gymnastics that we conduct every month, medical examination form of blood pressure and blood sugar, talk show, campaign, family time and also some interesting games that can increase physical activity of the community. Family time is an follow up methodology of ganbatte that we carry out with the aim of following up the development of our program.

Problem statement:

In accordance to RISKESDAS 2013, Surakarta placed on the top of the list of cities with the highest number of obesity (36,2%). This needs attention, considering that obesity is a risk factor of another non-communicable diseases, including heart diseases, which causes most of the deaths with the number of 37% due to NCDs in Indonesia (WHO, 2014) as well as hypertension, which is the most common non-communicable disease in Central Java with the number of 57,87% (Profil Kesehatan Jawa Tengah 2015).

Target groups:

General population, Medical students, The community in RT 3 RW 18 Ngoresan, Surakarta who are either categorized obesity by measuring body mass or has a minimum physical activity

Objectives and indicators of success:

Goals:

Lowering body mass index of the community RW 18 Ngoresan, Surakarta who are categorized Obesity about 20% and creating sustainable health systems as well as form 7 health cadres within 2 years

Objectives:

Applying point 3 of SDGs, which is Good Health and Well being

Increasing public awareness about the risk factors and the complications of obesity so that they are able to independently adopt a healthy lifestyle and do health checks routine

Increasing awareness of the local community about healthy lifestyle that have an impact on lifestyle changing so we can reduce the number of obese people

Indicators of success:

Increasement of public knowledge of obesity for at least 30% that measured by pretest/posttest

Reducement of the number of obese people for at least 20% that measured by comparing the BMI measurements and hip waist circumference

Increasement of the number of people who use a healthy diet at home and do physical activity routinely by 20% which will be monitored every month through a family time program

Methodology:

Plans for evaluation:

This activity evaluated by the data obtained through a questionnaire that will be processed into qualitative and quantitative data. The data will be collected at the beginning of this activity and after the intervention was given.

Before we held this activity, we had carried out assessment to the community in RW 18 in a form of questionnaire so that we know their initial knowledge and ability. In addition we also share blank for measure their body mass index. Moreover, we always conducted pretest and posttest before and after training or intervention. After the whole activity series was done, we carried out a final assessment to know the outcome of our activity.

Right after the activity was finished, we held a meeting with all of the committee to discuss the evaluation of this activity. We also created Google form for additional evaluation of the project that had not been recorded in the evaluation form
