General description:

– Pre intervention 1 :

Contact external parties such as Health Government, Air dingin Public Health Center and the stakeholder

-Pre-intervention 2 :

distribution of questionnaires regarding knowledge, attitudes, and actions of the community regarding TB in RT 001/RW 011.

– Intervention 1 :

Training was conducted to the DOTS Team regarding symptoms, signs, risk factors, prevention and transmission of TB and how to take sputum and how to transport sputum.

– Intervention 2 :

bonding was carried out between cadres caring for TB RT003/RW011 and RT001/RW011 and DOTS Team communities and recalling material to cadres concerned about TB.

– Intervention 3 :

counseling was provided by cadres caring for TB RT003/RW011 regarding symptoms, signs, causes, prevention and transmission of TB to the new community.

– Intervention 4 :

do sputum collection with cadres who care about TB to suspected TB and follow up on suspected TB

– Intervention 5 :

closure and inauguration of TB care cadres RT001/RW011.

Problem statement:

– According to WHO Global TB Report 2018, Indonesia has Estimated Total TB Incidence of 842,000 in 264,000,000 populations and is third ranked in the world after India and China.

– Based on data from Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia 2018, out of 14,262,147 people there are 20,429 residents who suffer from Tuberculosis. The number of people with positive smear was 14,838 ( cohort 2016) with cured percentages of 91.34%, complete treatment of 8.66% and treatment outcomes of 79.06%.

Objectives and indicators of success:

Objectives :

1. Empowering medical student:

– Training DOTS Team in communicating effectively to the community

2. Improving nation’s health:

– Increased public knowledge at RT 001/ RW 011 Air Dingin Balai Gadang district

about DOTS and also increased public awareness within check sputum for suspected TB.

Indicator of success :

– Increased about 80% of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in the community

– Increased about 80% of knowledge in the people about the symptoms and flow of TB transmission.

– Increased awareness about 50% of people suspected in community regarding early detection of TB and completion of TB treatment and sputum examination for suspected TB.

– At least 5 TB care cadres from new community.

– At least 1 training on tuberculosis is carried out to the DOTS Team.

– Implementation of 1 counseling from TB care cadres to the community RT001 / RW011.

– Guidelines for symptoms, signs, risk factors, transmission and prevention of TB for TB care cadres to facilitate the delivery of material from cadres to new communities.

– Increased about 80% of member knowledge based on the results of the pre test and post test training with a minimum score of 70 post test results.


To achieve our objectives, we do some action like

– we search the problem in community from secondary data

– we conduct assessment to get primary data in community

Based on the results of the DOTS Team Assessment to the community of RT 001 / RW 011 Balai Gadang Village on November 18, 2018 with 84 respondents. The results obtained for the level of knowledge of respondents were 29.5% of respondents who understood about several things about TB. Then from 84 respondents 73.76% of respondents have a good attitude in dealing with TB and 75% of respondents have a good understanding of actions against TB. Plans for evaluation:

The internal evaluation of the DOTS committee was held at the end of each series of activities with the entire DOTS Team. Material evaluation was obtained from feedback members, the results of the participants’ pretest and posttest, and feedback from the lecturers. Evaluation of the project implementation was obtained from feedback members, lecturers, participants, stakeholders, and post-project questionnaire.
