Type of the activity: Capacity Building (Training or Workshop). Teaching and develop knowledge, skills and techniques in a particular field. While training can have any form, workshops are more formal and also include exchange of information between participants.
General description:
There is a lack of skills acquired by medical students, mainly due to the focus of the curricula on the theoretical aspects of the medical field, rather then the practical ones. Therefore, this activity aims to compensate this deficiency by organizing hands-on workshops for the medical students on the following subjects: Basic and Advanced Life Support, Basic Skills in Laparoscopy, Abdominal Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Basic Echography Skills – Cardiac, Thyroid, Abdominal.

Problem statement:
There is a lack of skills acquired by medical students, mainly due to the focus of the curricula on the theoretical aspects of the medical field, rather then the practical ones. Therefore, this activity aims to compensate this deficiency, in order to help fellow students to provide the best medical care to their patient, once they begin working in the hospital environment.

Objectives and indicators of success:
Organizing a minimum of 10 workshops for at least 20 participants per workshop over one year (Basic and Advanced Life Support, Basic Skills in Laparoscopy, Abdominal Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Basic Echography Skills – Cardiac, Thyroid, Abdominal).
Providing the necessary materials for each workshop
Providing at least one instructor for each workshop
Methodology:
Selection of volunteers for the events
Finding locations for the workshops
Selection of instructors for each workshop
Finding sponsors from the medical community
Purchasing the necessary materials
Creating the graphic design for the promotional materials (posters, flyers, stickers)
Promoting the event within the students’ community
Selecting the participants
Creating an online group with the participants
Assuring the refreshments and food for the event
