General description:
The tendency of millennials to buy goods leads to consumptive patterns and creates the concept of fast fashion and fashion-waste. Targeting people with an age range 17-25 years old, CASHEW is here to increase knowledge regarding hazards and efforts to reduce fast fashion and fashion waste. Containing pre-activity training, webinars, small working groups, talkshow, air campaigns, and challenge, CASHEW is expected to be a small step for big changes in the management of fast fashion.
Problem statement:
The tendency of millennials to buy goods leads to consumptive patterns and creates the concept of fast fashion. The phenomenon of fast fashion causing environmental damage due to fashion-waste. Based on the survey of 104 respondents, more than 50% didn’t know about fast fashion and fashion waste but believed fashion waste could cause environmental damage. About 70% of respondents do not know how to overcome it. Indonesia itself is in the second rank for the contributor of textile waste.

Objectives:
- Increase public knowledge about fast fashion and fashion waste in the form of event, celebration, and campaign.
- Educating participants (general population) about the urgencies of fast fashion and fashion waste prevention
- Increase participants knowledge about fast fashion and its impact to the environment
- Train the skills of the participants to share and provide their knowledge to the community
Indicators of Success:
– Conducting education through pre-activity training with an average post-test training score of 89.66.
– Conducted education to 359 general public through a webinar with the theme “”Revolutionizing The Fashion Industry to Reduce Climate Change””.
– Conducted a Small Working Group which discussed cases around fashion waste with 364 CASHEW participants.
– Conducting an air campaign about fast fashion which has an impact on air pollution with 70 participants on Instagram.
– Conducting education to the general population, as many as 357 participants who have received education through Live IG MSCIA UB.
– Conducted a pre-campaign assessment with 104 respondents who filled out the assessment.
– Doing the Outfit Of The Day Challenge with 73 participants via the Instagram platform.
Methodology:
In the series of pre-events, CASHEW provides pre-activity training with the theme Disaster Risk Reduction to members so they can play an active role in disaster management. D-DAY CASHEW contains a webinar “The Environmental Cost of Fast Fashion and The Future of Our Clothes” and is applied in Small Working Group activities with the theme “What’s Wrong With Fast Fashion?” based on the cases provided, then feedback by the presenter 350.0rg. The event continued with a webinar “The Roles of Fashion Industry in Reducing Climate Change” by Control New. The next day, CASHEW held a Live Instagram “Know Fast Fashion, No Fast Fashion” with Zero Waste, and an air campaign via Instagram as a form of disseminating information about fast fashion and fashion waste through social media. The challenge is to upload photos using old clothes that are at least a year old as part of the CASHEW Post-event as a step towards implementing slow fashion as a form of dealing with the dangers of fast fashion.
Plans for evaluation:
- To assess the knowledge of the participants, we conducted a pre-test and post-test after the webinar and small working group
– We also conducted a questionnaire with the participants about the general evaluation for each event.
– To assess the activeness of the participants, we hold a Outfit Of The Day challenge
– We also interviewed all of the stakeholders and partners, including the educator about this event and its evaluation.
