Problem statement:
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia noted that TPA from 292 regencies/cities in Indonesia reached 37,459,364.60 (tonnes/year) and only 52.75% of waste managed of the total waste. Based on data on 15th March 2022, the Air Quality Index of Surakarta City shows the number 127, which means that the air quality in Surakarta is in the category of poor and vulnerable for some residents.

Objectives:
– Support the SCORP CIMSA Indonesia campaign in celebration of Earth Day which is held from 16th April – 14th May 2022
– Train OCs in working together to organize a project to increase the public knowledge in this activity held on 16th April – 14th May 2022
– Increase public knowledge and understanding regarding the impact of climate change and air pollution on the environment and health through an infographic on 26th April 2022.
– Increase public awareness to carry out activities based on green jobs and environmentally friendly through an infographic on 26th April 2022.
– Train the community in processing environmental waste into something useful through an art workshop and Thrift for Gift on 16th April 2022.
– Increase knowledge and understanding of medical students regarding the impact of climate change and air pollution on the environment and health by the end of training on 14th May 2022.
– Train medical students in processing environmental waste into something useful through a challenge on 14th May 2022, after training and workshop, with the theme of making Eco-enzymes and Ecobricks.
Indicators of Success:
– The training and workshop are attended by a minimum of 25 participants.
– An increase in the average pre-post test at least 10% during the training.
– The average participant satisfaction with the training and workshop is at least 4/5.
– Infographics were uploaded to CIMSA FK UNS Instagram and got a minimum of 60 likes.
– The art workshop and Thrift for Gift events are attended by at least 5 participants.
– The average participant satisfaction with the art workshop and Thrift for Gift events is at least 4/5.
– At least 25 trees and 1 coral reef from the donation are planted.
Methodology:
On 26th April 2022, infographics were uploaded to CIMSA FK UNS Instagram with the topic of air pollution.
On 26-29 April 2022, we held a donation campaign of trees through Protect the Forest. Every 20 likes from the infographic are equivalent to 1 tree that was donated.
On 14th May 2022, training was held with the theme “Climate Change and Its Impact on Our Global Health” and a workshop about making Ecobrick.
On 14th May 2022, there was a challenge to make Ecobrick after the training and workshop.
On 16th April 2022, art workshop and Thrift for Gift were held to increase public awareness to reduce plastic waste and clothing waste.
A coral reefs adoption as a form of concern for the SCORP CIMSA Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, for biota and the aquatic environment. The provision of this coral reef will be in collaboration with the Biorock Indonesia Lestari Foundation.
Plans for evaluation:
We provide pre-test and post-test in the form of Google Forms to the training participants
Using a questionnaire to assess the satisfaction of the participants.
Using photos of donation tree planting and baby coral for the follow-up method
