General description:

As Anti-FGM Spread all over Egypt we in IFMSA-Egypt as Medical Students Seeking to increase awareness through Our Medical Students As theu Future Doctors,Through Physical Campaigns to them,increase awareness to public people through Physical campaigns at different places.
through TOT we increases Knowledge to Our trainers to conduct this for thier LCs
through online Campaigns to increase our out reach for Social media Users

Focus area:

Female Genital Mutilation

Problem statement:

FGM is widely practiced social tradition in Egypt. It is usually performed on pre-pubescent girls, often without anesthetic or precautions against infection. The procedure in Egypt is usually performed on girls between the ages of 9 to 12 years, prior to the onset of puberty.A 2005 report by UNICEF suggested that 97% of Egyptian women between the ages of 15 and 49 who have never been married have undergone some form of
FGM or circumcision. A more recent study by the Egyptian government found that 50.3% of girls aged 10 to 18 have been circumcised.

Target groups and beneficiaries:

About 1,000 medical students all around Egypt.
About 2,000 – 3,000 public people.

Objectives and indicators of success:

Raising Awareness about the Religious, Legal & Clinical Aspects of FGM.
Obj. 1: Building a core team of IFMSA-Egypt members to be able to raise awareness for medical students in physical campaigns.
Obj.2:University Campaigns for Medical Students to Raise awareness about FGM and ensure medical students are the first to adopt negative attitude towards such act.
Obj. 3 Raise Awareness of the public towards the Religious, Legal & Clinical Aspects of FGM through health education programs in Primary health care units.

Methodology:

1) Capacity Building :
-We Will Make a manual as Reference which help Anti –FGM trainers when they need conduct a training they refer to it. ( 1 Nov. to 30 Nov., 2017)
-We will make Data Base which include Anti-FGM trainers and their Regions. ( 1 Nov. to 19 Nov. 2017)
-If It is Available We Will Make a training for Old trainers to Refresh their Data
-National TOT (Feb. & March, 2018)
-Local TOT Will Be made with our Trainers in Each LCs. (Feb. & March, 2018)
-Psychological Training: Separate or included with National TOT. (Feb. & March, 2018)
-We will Provide New LCs with trainers with Nearest LCs

2) Physical Campaigns:
-We can Solve Problem of LCs Approvals by cooperation with Other NGOs which work on our topic.
-We will Ask LCs to do more than one Phase to increase our Impact

3) Online Campaigns:
Made in national Ways Through IFMSA-Egypt Page
and in 3 Times through Local LCs

For achieving the Goal of our Project and reaching our outcome:
*pre & post Questionnaires are to be distributed and analyzed after the end of each step of the project according to the Target Group.
